Thanks for adding the VfD header to the US Imperialism list. I forgot to do that when I made the nomination. Rossami

Thank you for expanding Timeline of algorithms. It was one of the first articles I created, and a pretty lousy stub at that, and I had pretty much forgotten about its existence. Now I don't feel embarrassed about having been part of its creation any more :)

Keep up the good work! Fredrik 15:28, 13 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for all your recent pages. Could you take a look at some of the technical talk in the spline area? I have just redirected control point to B-spline - but I'm sure it would be helpful to sort out knot and control point and some other terms a bit more centrally.

I couldn't help noticing that is 1, not even. Ancheta Wis 16:23, 18 Jul 2004 (UTC) Upon re-reading, I see the notation distinguishes open meadric number from semi-meandric number etc. Never mind ;-0)

Please check the discussion on the subtraction article, I think you made the existing graphics and I was wondering if you could make replacements.

I did some heavy editing of Chebyshev polynomials and merged your page Chebyshev nodes into Chebyshev polynomials. I think Chebyshev polynomials gives a better context to discuss the application of Chebyshev nodes.MathMartin 21:06, 15 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Forget what I just said. I changed my opinion :) It is better to have a separate page on Chebyshev nodes as they are not directly related to Chebyshev polynomial. I think the Chebyshev polynomial page should discuss the properties of the Chebyshev polynomial. If the roots of the Chebyshev polynomial are used in numerical analysis this should be discussed on a separate page. Some people just want to read about the best nodes for polynomial interpolation and they should not have to wade through the whole Chebyshev page.MathMartin 14:52, 17 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Powerset construction

[edit]

I recently wrote an article on the powerset construction for converting NFAs to DFAs. Since you are the primary author of the page on NFAs and linked this, I thought I might be able to solicit your feedback and improvements on this new article. Thanks a lot. Deco 23:33, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

New Mathematics Wikiportal

[edit]

I noticed you've done some work on Mathematics articles. I wanted to point out to you the new Mathematics Wikiportal- more specifically, to the Mathematics Collaboration of the Week page. I'm looking for any math-related stubs or non-existant articles that you would like to see on Wikipedia. Additionally, I wondered if you'd be willing to help out on some of the Collaboration of the Week pages.

I encourage you to vote on the current Collaboration of the Week, because I'm very interested in which articles you think need to be written or added to, and because I understand that I cannot do the enormous amount of work required on some of the Math stubs alone. I'm asking for your help, and also your critiques on the way the portal is set up.

Please direct all comments to my user-talk page, the Math Wikiportal talk page, or the Math Collaboration of the Week talk page. Thanks a lot for your support! ral315 02:54, Feb 11, 2005 (UTC)

Anarchism

[edit]

Very nice use of source-based evidence. I wish more wikipedians would take the time to cite evidence in favor of the opinions they banter about. Unfortunately, RJ seems to think that general encyclopedias are a valid means of contradicting primary source evidence. Revkat 15:14, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Articles For Deletion

[edit]

Hi, one or both of the following situations applies to you, and you may therefore be interested in related discussions.

You may also be interested in a discussion of whether or not the entire text of a whole bible chapter should be contained in the 6 articles concerning those specific chapters, and whether or not they should only use the translations favoured by fundamentalists. This is being discussed at Wikipedia:Centralized discussion/Whole bible chapter text.

Thanks for uploading Image:Torus1.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

Is the richardsson text correct ?

[edit]

Hi I am a beginner in this forum, as well as in Richardson extrapolation. I have been trying the richardson extrapolation on (1+x*h)^(1/h). First with step size h=0.1, then halving the stepsize, approaching closer and cloaser to the value e. Let me call the approximations as a function on Stepsize A(h), A(h/2), A(h/4) etc. I've noticed that the recurence formula that you give does not yield as exact results as when you calculate the richardson approximate A_r as A_r1=2*A(h/2)-A(h) A_r2=[4*A(h/4)-A(h)]/3 A_r3= [8*A(h/8)-A(h)]/7

etc.

this gives superior results compared to what the recurrence relation that you describe gives Example [4*A(h/4)-A(h/2)]/3, which I think that you mean gives a much bigger error than

A_r2.

When calculating the richardson approximate as above the accuracy gets better by one order.

Hi. I wonder - is there any specific reason not to include some capital forms of greek letters? This is not really a big deal, but i'd have liked to find that page as complete as possible... Speaking of which, i forgot how to include the backslash character while writing in TeX. :"> Could you please include it in your page? Or may i, if i do find it myself before you answer? -- Jokes Free4Me 09:01, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Arena firewatch.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Arena firewatch.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 07:25, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. You are receiving this note as you are a member of this WikiProject. Currently there is not much of activity in the project and I am hoping to revive the project with your help. I have made a few changes to the project page Diff. You are welcome to make suggestions of improvement / changes in the design. I have also make a proposal to AutoTagg articles with WikiProject Computing for the descendant wikiprojects articles also. File permission problem with File:CoC xbox.png

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:CoC xbox.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 02:13, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
