Whoever thinks this is important ought convince the rest of us. Else it is less than useful, just a link outside. See Talk:Elftown. Aren't there lot of these communities? If Wikipedia has an article about them, these articles ought to be linked to it. Ortolan88 03:20, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I don't use elfwood myself but I remember that it was the premier site for amateur fantasy/sci-fi art when I first saw it over six years ago and remains so now. Elfwood is sufficiently large and important to merit an article in Wikipedia. It is not a 'social' 'community' as much as a collective hosting space. Also, I have met people in real life who know of it, the most recent example being anne-marie, who I met at a holiday park near a beach two weeks ago! An article will allow the general public to find information on the site, such as goals, size, composition, rules and customs etc. I think it would be easy to underestimate the number of members of the general public who may 'wiki' for information on a site like elfwood. --I 01:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
User scores
[edit]I learned recently there is something known as user scores which determine how long a user must wait before submitted material will be published. It is raised by having few rejections over a period of time and maxes at 400, where you get pretty much instantly published. Where would this be placed best in the article?
I'd directly link to this information, but I'd rather not give the password to my email so others can view it. If need be I can forward it or copy/paste as proof. -TwilightPhoenix 07:04, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
?? In any case the user score information would probably deserve it's own section, maybe create a broad topic like 'how elfwood works' and put it in there. Someone will come along and change the title to something better and all will be good :) --I 11:47, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
FARP
[edit]Does the FARP section sound a bit like an advertisement? Or is it just me? Can someone rewrite it? (I don't use Elfwood much.) Farslayer (talk) 09:07, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
should probably be FAP. This is internet. (well, the article wasn't deleted so maybe there IS something to the site... not going to check out) --Sigmundur (talk) 19:20, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Rescue
[edit]The Google News Archive is an excellent resource for finding independent sources on this, such as with the terms "elfwood art" and "science fiction elfwood." A few quick interesting sources are this, this, this, and this. Just use your browsers find function (ctrl+f) to see where Elfwood is mentioned in those sources if not obvious. As for me, I will have to come back to this another day as I am working on rescuing two other articles at the moment. —CodeHydro 20:11, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
