The result of the debate was keep. —Korath (Talk) 00:02, Mar 21, 2005 (UTC)
This article begins with the opening sentence: "Mundungus Flectcher was mentioned in passing in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Is "encyclopedic notability" a requirement for inclusion on Wikipedia? If so, does writing 3 paragraphs about any given subject remotely attached to a notable parent subject bypass such an encyclopedic requirement? --GRider\talk 23:04, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- GRider, please tell me what you think should happen to Mundungus Fletcher. It is your responsiblity as nominator to clearly tell your fellow Wikipedians what you think should happen as a result of the nomination. —Markaci 2005-03-15 T 23:13 Z
- This section of Wikipedia is called Votes for deletion, not Votes for inclusion; our fellow Wikipedians can speak for themselves. Thank you for spamming. --GRider\talk 23:15, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Well, you should speak for yourself as well - by which I mean you should give your opinion on Mundungus (et al). If you think Mundungus should be deleted, you should tell us why. If you do not, you should not list him here. There are other places in WP to achieve consensus on a point of discussion. Radiant! 08:45, Mar 16, 2005 (UTC)
- I think it is clear that Grider is either arguing non-notability or acting in bad faith. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume that he is sincere but obviously wrong. Keep.

- Strong Keep Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Yes, this character was only mentioned in passing in Chamber of Secrets, BUT, as the article goes on to say, becomes a significant character in the book Order of the Phoenix. Therefore, your nomination is misleading, to say the least. I don't know which possibility disturbs me more: 1). That you didn't bother to read the whole article before listing it for VfD... or 2). That you did read the whole article and deliberately left out the facts so as to mislead people into voting to delete. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 00:01, Mar 16, 2005 (UTC)
- Keep (though I think Harry Potter is a really bad story) It seems that this charachter is notable. --Neigel von Teighen 00:05, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Keep and delist misleading nominations. Kappa 00:56, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Keep. Agree with Kappa, this is an invalid nomination and should be delisted. —RaD Man (talk) 02:07, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Even though I disagree with this nomination, I disagree with delisting on principle, as it could too easily be abused since the definition of an 'invalid' nomination is not consensual. There have been at least two policy proposals about removing VfD entries that were both shot down. Radiant! 08:45, Mar 16, 2005 (UTC)
- Keep. WP:POINT. —Korath (Talk) 05:17, Mar 16, 2005 (UTC)
- Keep. Agree with Markaci, Kappa and Radman. GRider doesn't appear to understand current VfD policy, as shown by his/her numerous listings-without-reason.--Gene_poole 05:36, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Keep, cleanup and expand. Megan1967 05:42, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Keep, of course. Xezbeth 05:56, Mar 16, 2005 (UTC)
- Keep or merge as relatively minor character. Radiant! 08:45, Mar 16, 2005 (UTC)
- Keep. Notable enough given the high profile of Harry Potter. Capitalistroadster 10:42, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
