None of these are formations. This is a list of topographic features and should be relabeled as such. Examples of formations are things like the Dinwoody formation, Pierre shale, the Phosphoria formation, the Hell Creek formation etc.

What Defines a Rock Formation?

Several mountains (yes, made of rock) in Glacier National Park are listed as is a wall on the side of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison but there's nothing from the Grand Canyon, mountains like Mt. Whitney, its subpeaks, Wheeler Peak (NV), Grand Teton, etc. aren't listed (their just as rocky as those GNP) among others. Are these that I just mentioned simply overlooked or is there just inconsistency to the page? Perhaps there needs to be an explanation for what should be included and excluded on this page. The ((List of rock formations)) page seems to define it as any geological feature involving rocks. That's definitely too long for a page like this (just imagine: every single pointy or flat-topped mountain in the US...that's a lot!). --ALK (Talk) 21:01, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
