John Sanford (c. 1605-1653, who was governor of the combined towns of Portsmouth and Newport in the Rhode Island colony, was also a prominent passenger traveling with the Winthrop fleet. He had been an employee of the Winthrop household, caring for Magistrate Winthrop’s wife and oldest son. [edit]The whole page needs to be cleaned up a bit. I think the table could be reworked to include the notes. Also, the quote at the top needs to be formatted differently. Wechselstrom 16:22, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
