RE: Frank Wead

[edit]

Do you have a citation for the addition that you made to the Frank Wead article? Thanks, WikiDon 16:55, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I know that you didn't add "Z telegram," I have also left a message with the user that did (User talk:75.35.203.7, so we might not hear back from them, the only contribution made by that IP was: "03:41, 30 October 2006 Frank Wead‎ (Edited some content concerning Wead's life based on research and interview with Wead's daughter."). However, since you knew enough to change it to "Zimmermann Telegram" you must have a source for that. Or how else would you know that Z = Zimmermann? A very good assumption on your part, but still an assumption.

I do have this from Ellis Island:

  • First Name: Frank Wilber
  • Last Name: Wead
  • Ethnicity: U.S.A.
  • Last Place of Residence: New York City
  • Date of Arrival: Oct 16, 1917
  • Age at Arrival: 22y Gender: M Marital Status: M
  • Ship of Travel: Zeelandia
  • Port of Departure: Rio de Janeiro
  • Manifest Line Number: 0019

So, it looks like he was "down south" in 1917. So, it would be nice to find out more about 1917.

Thanks, WikiDon 20:48, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS: He also came back from England in 1923, most likely from the aviation races:

  • First Name: Frank W.
  • Last Name: Wead
  • Ethnicity: American
  • Last Place of Residence: Washington, D.C.
  • Date of Arrival: Oct 15, 1923
  • Age at Arrival: 28y Gender: M Marital Status: M
  • Ship of Travel: Leviathan
  • Port of Departure: Southampton
  • Manifest Line Number: 0021

I took it on faith and re-formatted the reference in good faith. If you have it, paste the text temporarily in a talk page, and/or print it to *.PDF and email it to me? I'll give it the twice over.

Shwag

[edit]

Mykej would you mind rewriting the Shwag article based on the sources you have found? It will make it easier for people to fairly evaluate it. Coccyx Bloccyx (talk) 21:56, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Monsieur, à quoi peut bien servir l'enfant qui vient de naître?

Brilliant, hats off to you Sir. That the nominator didn't understand your point merely underlines its perfection. Nick mallory (talk) 10:58, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Nice one. --Folantin (talk) 11:37, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
