Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Allison Taylor
Allison Taylor was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was to move the article to Lisa's Rival.
I've been VfDing a lot of minute Simpsons articles lately, I know, but when it comes to one-shot never-to-be-seen-again characters like Allison, not even a minor character list redirect will do. Ian Pugh 03:12, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Move to List with One-time Simpsons Characters or something. Wyllium 03:29, 2004 Nov 10 (UTC)
- Move and update to Lisa's Rival —siroχo 04:56, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete: No merge or redirect for a few reasons. First, the merge queue effectively means that this just sits about. Second, there is a high likelihood that a real person with the name of Allison Taylor is out there, just waiting for a chance to be in our encyclopedia. Third, if the episode article doesn't already say her name and who voiced her, it should be here on VfD. Geogre 05:16, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Well, right now it appears there is no episode article; a situation which I in no way consider to be problematical. -R. fiend 07:07, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Another one mentioned on the characters list. About the only interesting piece of information about her is who did her voice, which I added to the list page, so there's no reason to keep this. Delete, no redirect. -R. fiend 05:23, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC) Oh, and the "celebrities on the Simpsons" page has her name spelled with one L, can we confirm this is the correct spelling?
- Delete. No merge or redirect for reasons given by Geogre. jni 07:04, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. The above reasons make sense to me. Indrian 07:10, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)

- Delete. Agree with Geogre. A quick google search finds a huge number of real Allison Taylors. Average Earthman 14:20, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. You know, it occurs to me that maybe we should be checking the episode list articles and make sure people aren't creating wikilinks for one-shot characters and one-episode jokes to falsely give the impression such fancruft should have individual articles. -- Antaeus Feldspar 17:38, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I think you're right. It would be the equivalent of all those band articles, where "Jimmy Eat World is made up of redlink, redlink, redlink and redlink on drums." The band needs an article, but the guys in it are only notable for being in the band, and yet the next fan (or the same one) then starts popping out articles that say, "Name plays instrument in Jimmy Eat World." - Delete, or replace with article about the (marginably notable--hasn't placed top 3 in a national or international meet) gymnast of that name (most of the 'huge numbers' aren't that notable, actually--reporters, amazon.com user reviewers, etc.). Agree with Geogre and especially Antaeus--biting newcomers responding to red-links with VfD noms is a very bad thing. Also, for the record, according to simpsons.com (tho' not IMDb), the character's name was spelled with one 'l'. Niteowlneils 18:45, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- For the record, given the choice, I would prefer episode articles over fiction character/place/thing articles, as ep articles could also include 'real world' facts, like director, guest star(s), first air date, etc., as well as the fictional one-offs. Niteowlneils 18:52, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Delete Fancruft. --Improv 19:05, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Move to episode title and rework; keep. What is it with this bias against "fancruft"? Episodes of the Simpsons are notable; they should have articles if people are willing to write them. Everyking 22:31, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
