[edit]in the film 'amstad' as refered to in the head article the Mende language not having the auxillary verb 'should' is refered to. also as the difficulty in translating 'slave' comes up i believe the knowledgable person(s) should address these issues. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.82.7.239 (talk) 10:21, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Written forms
[edit]I've created a new section on written forms, including the existing paragraph and adding info on the alphabet. For the latter, there are two references I could only access via Googlebooks (without full text) for info on the vowels. If someone can access the latter, that should permit more complete info on the Latin-based Mende alphabet, and any changes that may have been made in it over the last 50-60 years.--A12n (talk) 15:41, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
Citation needed for lingua franca claim
[edit]Someone edited this page yesterday, questioning the claim that Mende is a lingua franca for Sierra Leone. Given that I know absolutely nothing about the subject matter (that’s why I was looking at the page) I merely noticed that the style was inappropriate and the use of bold superfluous. Hopefully, someone with actual knowledge of the subject matter will add that citation, or adjust the wording to take into account the viewpoint of whomever disagreed with it.
