Member participation request
[edit]Please can someone guide me on how to participate in this project? Thisasia (talk) 11:13, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, Thisasia, and welcome to Wikipedia. This page, WikiProject Thailand, is what we call a WikiProject—a place where editors on Wikipedia can discuss and collaborate on certain topics, based on subject area. WikiProjects vary widely in size and amount of activity. While some are very active with a lot of members, WikiProject Thailand in particular is relatively quite small, so we don't usually have any formal editing drives or collaboration efforts going on. You can participate just by writing on Thailand-related topics that interest you. We have a Style guide that can help provide an overview on style and formatting issues relevant for Thailand topics, and the various lists under the Open tasks section on the WikiProject page can point you to new articles and discussions that are going on. And of course, feel free to post here on this talk page if you have any questions or suggestions. --Paul_012 (talk) 19:36, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
Meta proposal on Thai Wikipedia and sister projects
[edit]Please see m:Wikimedia Thailand/Rangsitpol Family Topic Ban.
Summary in English is available at the top of the page. The rest of the discussion is in Thai. Your comments in Thai/English are welcome. This is a possible solution that the community of volunteers in Thailand wants to get away with the well-known & long-term problem. The pressure may be shifted to Wikipedia in other languages - possibly English. If the proposal is accepted, we would seek your kind understanding, cooperation and support from volunteers on English Wikipedia too.

- Pinging RJFF, who's the one most closely involved in the case around here.
- While I understand where the Thai community is coming from, I doubt a proposal to the same effect would have a chance of flying at all here on Enwiki. However, the legal harassment of editors is a major concern, and probably warrants further action. I'll wait a bit to see see how the Meta discussion unfolds, then raise the issue at WP:ANI. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:27, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. It was an unthinkable solution but, after five years, it becomes a practical way forward. --Taweetham (talk) 13:37, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- Done @RJFF and Paul 012: The vote was concluded in favor of the indefinite ban and related articles have been deleted. --Taweetham (talk) 09:42, 15 March 2024 (UTC) (updated 12:13, 20 March 2024 (UTC))

Chatchai Paiseetong
[edit]Would someone from this WikiProject mind taking a look at Chatchai Paiseetong? There are several citations to Facebook pages and generally Facebook isn't considered a reliable source per WP:UGC and WP:RS/P#Facebook; however, these pages are in Thai and I'm unable to read and assess them. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:36, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
Invitation to the 2024 Developing Countries WikiContest
[edit]Hello, everyone! I'd like to invite you all to sign up for the upcoming 2024 Developing Countries WikiContest. The event runs from July 1 to September 30 and signups close on July 15. The WikiContest focuses on developing countries, in which they have included Thailand. The intention is to improve the English Wikipedia's coverage and comprehension of articles related to developing countries. For this reason, you may also expect that articles related to the Thailand may be heavily edited during the contest. More information on how points will be awarded can be found at Wikipedia:2024 Developing Countries WikiContest/Scoring. For comments or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Wikipedia talk:2024 Developing Countries WikiContest. Thank you! Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon
[edit]Hello WikiProject Thailand:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!
