[edit]Although Shirley was once known for it's Shiitake Mushrooms, that were grown here for years, in 2009 the Mushroom factory burned to the ground, and along it went the last industry left in the town.
Eddie Guffey, born January 2, 1954 in Shirley Ark, died March 19,2014 in Fort Worth Texas, after a long illness. He left behind a wife, Brenda Guffey, two daughters, Melissa Garcia and Zarah Whipple and 10 grandchildren he was very proud of. We miss him and are thankful he was saved and in heaven now with his savior! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.137.19.0 (talk) 22:01, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
