Hey there. I noticed that you moved French Wikipedia to French Language Wikipedia. I reverted that move, not solely because I don't agree with it, but because there are many other articles about the different wikipedias - as you can see by the corresponding category - and they are all namend in the same way. So I think it would be better to propose a name change for all of these articles instead of just renaming one. --Conti| 17:12, Apr 10, 2005 (UTC)

Yes but what do you think is better? "French Wikipedia" as it was, "French speaking Wikipedia", "Francophone Wikipedia", or as I suggested, "French Language Wikipedia"?--Theo F 18:06, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Personally, I prefer "French Wikipedia". I think it's the most commonly used term, and to me it's also the best sounding of the selection. --Conti| 18:53, Apr 10, 2005 (UTC)
Although it might be the most commonly used, this term unfortunately implies a francocentric ideology and for that reason is not quite NPOV. In the articles of the French language Wikipédia, we try as far as possible to provide the relevent information for readers from France, but also from Belgium, Switzerland, Québec, and I wish in the future there could be more information for users form the French-speaking African countries. There might not be the same problem for - say - the Japanese Wikipedia, because most Japanese speakers are indeed Japanese. --Theo F 15:06, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hmm, I now understand why you changed the article name. But doesn't "French Wikipedia" mean "Wikipedia for the French language", and not "for the French people"? True, it's not really clear, but if the page should be moved to a more clear and NPOV article name, all the other articles should also be moved, and therefore I think you should propose the move one a talk page (I'm not really sure which one is the best to be honest), to gather some consensus on this. --Conti| 22:35, Apr 12, 2005 (UTC)
On fr.wikipedia.org, I think there is a genuine intention to make the articles friendly for people from outside France. So I suppose that if a poll was organized most people on fr.wikipedia.org would be in favour of stressing the francophone character of the project in a way or other. The reaction in an other language community might be different. May be we could keep things as they are now. Time will tell if more people here on en.wikipedia.org share views similar to mine. Don't worry, I don't think the flag will get deleted any time soon. dbenbenn | talk 20:56, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

List of cities in the Americas with alternative names

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of cities in the Americas with alternative names, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of List of cities in the Americas with alternative names. —BradV 03:07, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of List of cities in the Americas with alternative names

I have nominated List of cities in the Americas with alternative names, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of cities in the Americas with alternative names. Thank you for your time. —BradV 04:28, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Pomodorovaticansphere.jpg nominated for speedy deletion

[edit]

WTF?! I didn't realise you needed copyright to take a photo of a public sculpture. Surely Pomodoro's getting free publicity to sell his identical sculptures for ridiculous amounts of money but then i guess that's not the point... Anyway, will you give me a link to where on Wikipedia it says you can't take pics of public sculptures (I couldn't find anything myself on the image policy pages - maybe something needs to be added) and then do whatever you gotta do. Cheers. extraordinary (talk) 22:53, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bonjour, That was an interesting addition you made to Prisoner of War. When you get a chance, would you please add a reference for the addition? I didn't want to clutter up the article with a fact tag. Merci beaucoup, --4wajzkd02 (talk) 14:41, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ganda Iso, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Songhai (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
