Cabhan is the nickname for me, Alex, living in Maryland of the United States. I am, unfortunately, not associated with the Irish county of An Cabhan, though the Gaelic translation ("Grassy Hill") somewhat reflects my lazy, natural way of life. I am also quite obsessed with the Celts =).
Well, I'm very interested in religion. Personally, I'm an atheist with a great interest in Neopaganism and Taoism (especially the more philosophical points). While I very greatly disagree with most religions, I am fascinated by religions throughout the world, and do enjoy studying them. But if you come here protesting my contributions to a religious article, well, there's my personal background.
I'm also very interested in computers. I currently am quite proficient in HTML (not a real programming language, I know =p) and excellent with Java. I've made great use of Perl, but my current love is C, though I also know Java, C++, Objective-C and such things. My computer currently runs entirely on Linux, Gentoo Linux to be exact, though I do own a MacBook Pro laptop as well.
As far as other interests go...I love music. I'm really into heavy metal these days, with some personal favorites being Iron Maiden, Metallica, and recently, Mägo de Oz. I don't play myself, but I do love listening.
I also love reading. I'm a big fan of fantasy and science fiction. I'm a humongous Star Wars geek, and I've read almost all the books. But the two greatest books of all time are The Mists of Avalon and The Lord of the Rings. I've recently been enjoying other works by Marion Zimmer Bradley, as well as the Dune series. I'm recently moving into some Math and Philosophy, both of which interest me greatly.
I'm also very interested in poliics, though I would never run for an office myself. I'm extremely liberal, with socialist leanings. I love the ideas of Communism, but I'm enough of a realist to know that it will never occur. While not gay myself, one of my most passionate issues is gay rights.
As far as Wikipedia habits go: I tend to not make major revisions or changes to pages (though I have done so in the past). I tend to watch certain articles closely and contribute small bits where I can. If classifications must be made, I'm a deletionist: I have no qualms at all about nuking some content we have. I consider myself to have excellent spelling and a good grasp of grammar, so I tend to make a number of edits in those areas.
