[edit]How can "Beatles - #1" be in the to[ 10 best selling albums in 2000 and yet be released in 2001? Something is wrong -- SGBailey 00:56 Dec 30, 2002 (UTC)
I can't answer your question. I got the information from SoundScan, which keeps track of these things. -- Zoe—Preceding comment was added at 03:15, 30 December 2002 (UTC)
It was released on November 14th 2000 and topped the charts in 30 countries. -Jazz77—Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.229.90.232 (talk) 01:49, 31 December 2002 (UTC)

Votes for 'years in music' event
[edit]- Either "Oh Brother where art thou" or Britney Spears (probably the latter sigh) -- SGBailey—Preceding comment was added at 22:17, 30 December 2002 (UTC)
- I'd say both. -jazz77—Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.229.90.232 (talk) 23:38, 30 December 2002 (UTC)
- I'd say Oh Brother, and the Steely Dan, being the first proper Dan album in 20 years, and being one of the best albums they made, and one of the best albums of the last 10 years, to boot.

The Corrs, for example, sold more than 6 million copies of In Blue--85.152.176.183 (talk) 14:54, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
While I don't agree the Steely Dan album is one of their "best" I do think the fact it was made so long after GAUCHO probably merits its inclusion as an event. GBrady (talk) 20:55, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Disbanded bands
[edit]I removed dc Talk from this list. dc Talk is considered to be on hiatus, and no official word has been made of their break-up, which makes their inclusion wrong. celticsfan1983 —Preceding comment was added at 19:44, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Article is waaaay too long
[edit]Is there any way that some of these sections could be condensed or spun off? For example, instead of having EVERY album released that year just spin off a separate Wiki article and link to it after the Soundscan Top 20 section?
Also, I don't see the point of including the Billboard top 5 AND the Soundscan list...it should be one or the other. GBrady (talk) 20:55, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Table of contents?
[edit]Adding one at the top might make the article a bit more navigable. GBrady (talk) 21:00, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Though I still feel the article needs trimming down, I've added a TOC myself. GBrady (talk) 21:05, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Should this article be reformatted?
[edit]After having looked at the articles for "year" in music, as well as articles for "year" in R&B, "year" in country, etc. I am thinking that the article simply saying "year" in music as far as recorded music goes should include the top 5-10 "pop" hits of the year with a link to more descriptive article including all the Top 10 hits, "notable" recordings, etc. as well as sections for top 5-10 R&B hits and link to full article, etc. As it stands, these articles seem to assert that "pop" is the only music that matters in a given year but adding all the content from the articles focused on other genres of music within that given year will make the article unwieldy and overlong. Does anyone else feel that the articles simply saying (year) in music should be a general overview of the very top hits of the respective genres with spinoff articles detailing the individual genres in depth? Discuss... GBrady (talk) 21:18, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Format of the YEAR in music
[edit]I've checked 1980-today starting from this year format of the pages change too much. I believe there is no system. For example Biggest Hit Singles lists vanish. Also added new top UK sometimes.. Anyway, overall format I believe needs to be changed. —Jack in the box (talk) 11:28, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Paul Young's Death
[edit]I added a new item (Paul Young) to this article, but I got a notice that the information was incorrect. I am sure I added a valid info, because I didn't mean Paul Young (solo singer) but Paul Young: the singer of the bands Sad Cafe and Mike + The Mechanics. This person actually died of heart attack (15 July 2000).
- I'm sorry, I was too quick to dismiss your edit. You linked to Paul Young (the solo singer), and because of that, I mistook it as erroneous, but I have now relisted the death of Paul Young (Mike + The Mechanics) with the correct link. --Danmuz (talk) 21:50, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
