- But we don't know whether or not he'd be the first black Pope. Nobody knows what colour skin the African Popes had. (Alphaboi867 21:26, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC))
- See http://www.nbccongress.org/black-catholics/african-popes.asp --Sonjaaa 05:10, Feb 3, 2005 (UTC)
- I changed the link from African pope to African pope. Otherwise, people who want to know more about the previous African popes wouldn't find the relevant article. Michaël 09:41, Apr 9, 2005 (UTC)
- Changed "As Father" to "As Priest" as it sounds better and is less confusing upon first notice. --User:Jordan 13:11, April 1, 2005 (UTC)
- Removed the line "He is considered conservative by some, while progressive by others on issues related to homosexuality, abortion, contraception and the family". No examples are given. It's like saying "some people think he's a nice guy, others don't".
- Just read the quotation. Rama 13:55, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Education
[edit]Information on Cardinal Arinze's education always seems somewhat sketchy. Was he granted degrees at the institutions he attended? If so, what are they? Where was his research focused? Has he published any scholarly work related to liturgy? If so, where? Does he, like nearly all of his brother Cardinals, have a doctorate?
Even his biography on the official Vatican website has scant details of his education, and does not state any specific degrees that he has earned.
His Eminence has many degrees: he graduated from the seminary with a degree in philosophy; at the Pontifical Urban University, he obtained a degree in theology, followed by a licentiate and ultimately a doctorate in sacred theology, which he earned summa cum laude.
Any sources for the above information? Most bios say "he took courses" but none seem to discuss his degrees or whether he acutally earned the STD (graduated)--which of course is not nearly the same as a PhD--but perhaps he has one of those as well? Why does the Vatican bio leave all this out? Fishy.172.190.146.26 06:52, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
