Installable scenarios

[edit]

A Canadian jihadist, Kevin Omar Mohammed, ended up having his arrest triggered by a request for an installable scenario for Call of Duty that would let him play the role of a first person shooter at the Brussel's Airport, mere days after terrorists attacked that airport. I added that information to his article. But this article doesn't say anything about installable scenarios... MOD he implied they were called. Geo Swan (talk) 16:25, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This article is for the original game. Mohammed was probably making a reference to No Russian, a controversial level from a later game. Many games are capable of having custom levels, sometimes with support from the developer and sometimes not. Generally isn't covered for most games as secondary sources don't talk about it much. "Mods" is indeed the term usually used, or "custom maps" -- ferret (talk) 19:28, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ferret, can you tell me more about this "No Russian" MOD? When I used tineye and google image search on the image that triggered the controversy some of the matches were similar to the image he used, but the link included the phrase "No Russian". Is the "No Russian" MOD controversial because it, itself, is about attacking civilians in an airport?
I ask because there is a big difference between a guy asking for a copy of an unofficial MOD, set in an airport, using a screenshot from that MOD, and a guy who personally changes an ordinary call of duty screenshot to make it look like an attack on civilians in an airport.
Thanks! Geo Swan (talk) 13:32, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No Russian isn't a mod, its a level in Modern Warfare 2. It is indeed about attacking civilians in an airport. Read the article. -- ferret (talk) 16:11, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edits promoting a website across a few articles

[edit]

see here[1]

I only came across this trying to remember which CoD game I played way back when.

The edits seems to be promoting a website with a link that leads to the website itself, I do not know if this is against some community rules, so I am not planning on reverting all of them.

The only one that I did revert was with this article , visible in history (unnamed because I did not yet have an account until this moment), with a summary questioning the relevance of the website under the american campaign section. ConradKato (talk) 13:58, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Xbox 360 release?

[edit]

If this game came out in 2003, there's no way it came out on the 360, as the 360 didn't exist yet. Unless it got ported, I think whoever put it there meant the Xbox. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.96.161.220 (talk) 02:28, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It got ported in 2009. 2A02:C7E:3860:4500:D453:9245:8B04:45D (talk) 14:59, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Platforms

[edit]

Platforms in the sidebar don't list the original PS2 and Xbox (just the ports to next gen consoles) 194.242.55.7 (talk) 10:39, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Because it wasn't released on them. -- ferret (talk) 13:31, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
