Corrections
[edit]I don't know how to make acceptable corrections. I thought it might be easier if I just tell you what they are and someone who knows how can figure it out.
According to the Declaration of Intention (to Naturalize) declared by Jacob Kaminsky (Danny Kaye's father) was born in Kiev Russia (not Yekaterinoslav) and arrived on the SS American on 15 Jan 1906. (Ancestry.com image).
According to the passenger manifest, Jankel Kaminski arrived on the SS Amerika, Jan 14, 1906 on List (aka page) 17, line 7. He was traveling alone. While difficult to read, it appears his last permanent residence was Tuchow (I think this is meant to be Obuchow; more on this later). (Ellis Island image.)
Jakob's wife, Chaie (later Clara), and children, Lev (later Sam) & Motel (later Mac), arrived on the SS Estonia, Dec 1908.According to their manifest, their last permanent residence was Obuchaw, Kiew Gub[ernia] and they were all born in the same place. (Ellis Island image.)
Obuchow is today, Obukhiv, Ukraine. Before WW1 (c1900), Obukhov was a part of the Kiev District, Kiev Province, Russian Empire. (JewishGen's Communities Database.)
In conclusion: Danny Kaye's family did not originate from Yekaterinoslav, but Obukhiv, Ukraine
If you want the images, I can download and send/attach ... just let me know how.

In addition to the FUNNYMAN comic, a character based on Kaye appeared in an 8-page backup story in DC COMICS,when Dick Grayson's ROBIN was attending Hudson University in the fictional town of New Carthage.
A character who was a ringer for Kaye decided to give up his show business career to go back and finish his college education. His agent started a series of disasters on campus, hoping to convince his sole client that going to college was bad luck for him. Robin,The Boy WOnder captured the agent; while "Davey King" kept children calm with patter songs during a building cave-in. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.23.5.35 (talk) 12:57, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
