Demographics
[edit]Whoever wrote the section of demographics is completely wrong sikhs are not the majority in southall its christianity and hindus are not the second largest religious group they are the fourth can someone please sort this out i'll even give u a link to prove my point 'official' statistics from the UK it's self http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/guide/seat-profiles/ealingsouthall Sh79 (talk) 11:19, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, SH79, but you are incorrect. The link you have given refers to the Ealing Southall Parliamentary constituency - which includes the towns of Hanwell, Northfields, part of Ealing, and part of Greenford. The largest religious grouping in the five local government wards that comprise the town of Southall are the Sikhs, with Hindus and Muslims pretty much equal for second place. 21:43, 15 November 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Multiculturalist (talk • contribs)
- Did you even read the link Multiculturalist? The first few lines answer your question 'A West London seat in the Borough of Ealing, covering Southall itself, Norwood Green, Dormer`s Wells and part of Hanwell' where does it state 'Northfields, part of Ealing, and part of Greenford' as you mentioned? Hrh80 (talk) 19:03, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Southall is a town made up of 5 wards, Green, Broadway, Dormers Wells, Lady Margaret and Norwood Green. The parliament constituency contains Southall as well as other districts. Roscomoner (talk) 18:16, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
Norwood Green
[edit]Added link to Norwood Green a page which was produced before I found the project and the template.
Railway Crash
[edit]I heard there was a railway crash here in the 1980s/1990s. Is this true? If so, shouldn't this be mentioned on here. - Erebus555 17:29, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Southall rail crash link added --RichardVeryard 15:37, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Aircraft Crash
September after next will be the 50th anniversary of an unplanned arrival at Kelvin Gardens, which happened at about 7:30 am 2nd September 1958. The company when out of business shortly after. See British Pathe film: [1] --Aspro 19:37, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
NPOV
[edit]I have reworded the value-laden statement "a pitiful amount of churches". I don't think it is appropriate for Wikipedia articles to judge how many churches a district ought to have. --RichardVeryard 15:37, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
I doubt that there was ever any serious attempt to have Southall renamed Punjabtown. However, this Urban myth is repeated all over the internet.--RichardVeryard 15:45, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
Pronunciation
[edit]Does any one know how to put a pronunciation sound link onto the page? Every time someone on TV or radio mentions this place the say Suthal instead of South- hall;(Oh, OK then: and sometimes Sou'ffou too.). I don't whether their talking about here or the race course. --Aspro 18:14, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- Why the Punjabi pronounciation? Southall is in the UK, where the official language is English. I can see no reason to have a Punjabi pronounciation in the article. Mjroots (talk) 07:23, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- It's an alternative spelling in the South Asian community, as derived from the railway stations signs. --Marianian (talk) 13:51, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Two-thirds of people in Southall are of South Asian descent. In light of the fact that a large number of them speaking Punjabi, why shouldn't that be included? Fences and windows (talk) 05:17, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Merge with southall's south asian community article
[edit]It makes sense to merge the two articles rather than have 2 separate ones.
And where did you get the statistics on 'Religion in Southall' being 45% Muslim? This is of course not correct and you can see on this page that the 2001 statistics show much different story. Southall is heavily 'Indian' area, Pakistan population is much less. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6903172.stm
Also what about the 'white' population in Southall? Many eastern-europeans there now.
- Agree, the articles should be merged, unless the Asian community of Southall article can be heavily expanded and not with unverifiable gang histories of the local Asian gangs. Londium 21:56, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
I was just in London (I live in Canada) and took the Heathrow Connect and the train stopped. I was interested in learning more about Southall and found this article was just what I wanted. I would suggest leaving two independent articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.241.160.176 (talk) 00:53, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Feature piece in the Ealing Gazette ( 2010-04-10)
[edit]The Ealing Gazette (2010-04-10) appears to have looked towards this article for some of its inspiration. Some of the phrasing is quite similar. [2]. No mention of WP though!--Aspro (talk) 10:28, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Indic translation
[edit]I don't know which direction to go, but I've seen the text "ਸਾਊਥਹਾਲ" come and go through unexplained edits made mainly by anonymous users. Also, have not seen any consensus on its inclusion, which I am requesting before considering whether to add it back in once and for all. Thoughts? --Marianian(talk) 04:35, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Golf Links fires
[edit]"Golf Links Estate, almost burned down in 1997 & 2008."
Think that's a bit of an exaggeration, TBH.
In both cases, it was only one tower block that was affected - and then it was only the roof.
Also, the first fire actually occurred in November 1996:

External links - Gas tower image
[edit]Hi, I can't seem to see the 'LH' in the *Image of the Gas tower with "LH" written on the side image. Maybe this is an earlier or later image, or wrong side? Cheers, Facts707 (talk) 13:26, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, I see - just need to rotate the image in Bing. I'll make a note. Facts707 (talk) 13:35, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
